Day in My Life 4.05.16

I remember thinking "I don't know what to photograph today" when I realized it was April 5th. But I toted my camera around and let the day happen. I don't remember why we were all in my bedroom. That doesn't happen very often. But we were and the kids started jumping on the bed and I'm in love with the resulting pictures, most of which ended up being just Eva sitting on the bed. We also did a science experiment on erosion later in the day.

Day in My Life - 3.05.16

I have one picture from this day. I spent the day at a church near Cincinnati with our church's teens. They participated in a teen talent contest. Lots of musical entries, some preaching, Bible quizzing and sword drills, artwork and stories. We have some talented teens! It was a fun day. I took my camera and snapped some shots here and there, but mostly just enjoyed being there and supporting our youth.

Day in My Life - 2.05.16

Well, I thought January's post was late! I'm just now getting around to posting my February pictures. I can't really say why I haven't except for life. Things get busy, I was working on other stuff, or tired, or whatever. I'm taking pictures today, as it's the 5th of April and realizing how little I've picked up my cameras in the past couple months. :(  Anyway, here are my shots from February.

Day in My Life - 1.05.16

So.......I'm a little late with my pictures this month. But we've been a little busy - doctor's appointments, sick kids, surgery and everything else to keep up with. Don't worry, everyone's fine and we are starting to get back to a normal schedule. Eva ended up in most of my shots this month. Enjoy!

Day in My Life - 12.05.15

December 5th was a Saturday and a busy one for us. We started our morning with a foggy drive to Home Depot for their monthly kids' workshop. All three of ours now participate in this wonderful free event as often as we can. I highly recommend it! We spent the afternoon in Piqua with friends and happened upon a Christmas parade downtown. I had to convince the boys to go, but the candy and stuffed animals made it worth it. We tried to go to Charleston Falls in the evening, but after sitting in traffic for 30 minutes, we gave up. A visit with Santa and hot chocolate with friends made for a nice evening.

Day in my Life - new personal project

I've read many blog posts and photography articles about ideas for and the importance of pursuing personal projects as a photographer. I'd try them all if I had all the time in the world. I did try the Project 365 - taking a picture every day for a year - about three times. I made it through January this year. So, for now, I've decided a more attainable goal will be to take one day a month and photograph my life that day. I've chosen the 5th of each month because my birthday is on the 5th of May.

November was the first month of this project. It was slightly more difficult than I anticipated. Once I pick up a camera and start shooting, I kind of get lost in my head and in looking through the lens. I can't really do that when I'm the only adult with my kids all day, and I'm supposed to be teaching them school. Here are the selections from November 5, 2015.

Project 365

A Project 365 has become a pretty typical thing in the photography community. The goal is to take at least one picture a day for the whole year. I tried this in 2009 and made it until sometime in the summer, when I stopped completely. I tried again last year and probably made it 5 days. I just got a new camera and really would like to keep shooting when I can, so I'm going to try again this year. Ideally, I'll be able to work on different skills throughout the year with this project - but I do have three kids, I homeschool them, teach Sunday school and have a house I try to keep somewhat clean - so realistically I'll be lucky to remember to grab a shot each day. If you check in on this project, you'll probably mostly see pictures of my kids. If nothing else, I'll have a neat record of this year when it's all said and done.

This was our Christmas day at home, since we were traveling on Dec. 25. This gift (a garage sale find that was supposed to be for their birthdays, but I forgot) was a fun surprise since it wasn't on their list, but I knew they would love it!
